DeskEvent in Istanbul

IstanbulJEF Europe, in partnership with JEF-Turkey, organised a DeskEvent in Istanbul from the 23rd-26th February.

During the first session of the DeskEvent at the Istanbul Bilgi University /EU Institute, Pauline Gessant and Iohanna Gonzalez introduced the participants to project management and fundraising (governmental and european level). After lunch, Ruben Loodts and Iohanna Gonzalez were in charge of the Working group activities. The participants, in small group, had to prepare a project and present it to the others. Using the 5W & 2 H Methods, the results were impressive as the participantsĀ  showed their creativity, ingenuity and originality. Examples of project ideas included the “Pisa tower ice-cream festival” or ‘Letter from the inside” in partnership with prisoners. The participants developed an idea into a concept in only 30 minutes!

On the 25th February, during the the Europe@myNewsDesk session at the Istanbul Bilgi University, Pauline, Iohanna and Seyma Akkoyunlu, journalist for a national Turkish Newspaper, explained to the participants how to use the new web technology, write a journalistic article and a Press Release.
During the afternoon, they participated to a simulation / role game. As journalist, they had to interview 2 policians and write a news report about it.

For the Europe@mySchoolDesk, a small team went to theĀ  Turkey Volunteers for Education Foundation on the Asian side. With 3 interventions and around 70 children, Efasne Yurtseven and Seyda Daylan made a wonderful job! With some games, quizz and songs, they kept the attention of the kids for 1,5 hours and they didn’t want to leave!

A big thank you to JEF Turkey, especially Ferhat, Efsane, Seyda and to Pauline and Ruben for their wonderful trainings!
