The venue of the final DeskEvent was the Basque town of Donostia, better known as San Sebastian on the Atlantic coast, between the 4th and 7th of March 2010, with a oneday pit-stop in Logroño, the capital of the region Rioja.
The first part of the three day event was a public debate entitled “Europe, towards a political Union?” organised by Logroño in cooperation with the Fundación Cultura y Comunicación. The Secretary General of JEF-Europe Peter Matjašič spoke to an audience of some forty enthusiasts who were eager to discuss the European integration project and whether or not the EU has become a truly political Union after the Lisbon Treaty came into force. You can read an interview with the SG for the local online newspaper in Spanish here.
The second part of the DeskEvent was a Europe@myOfficeDesk workshop on project management which informed the participants about financial, logistical and technical support for projects and presented the different European funds available, in particular the Youth in Action programme. The workshop was led by the Secretary-General Peter and Treasurer Till sharing their numerous experiences and insights into project management at European level with the small but very active and motivated crowd.
The third part of the DeskEvent was a Europe@myNewsDesk workshop on European journalism about the new web technology and how to make use of the new internet and media tools in daily work and projects. This workshop was led by Pablo Urbiola, a student of journalism, member of JEF-Madrid and active blogger.
Both workshops took place in the youth centre CRAJ on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning respectively. The event was organised by JEF-Europe in cooperation with its local partners (from Euskadi, Madrid and Catalunya) and we would like to express our special thanks to Filippo for his great help and work on the spot in Donostia-San Sebastian.
